Hello, China has new VAG 18.2 / 18.9 without loader, Tried it it seems to works well, PCB is 6.1 with Atmega 162 and everything, I can share informations aabout it if needed, I have received 2 to test.

I flashed one with 7.1 Kolimer's loader (thanks !) works well also.

I didn't checked yet if everything is working well, for now it can works with English and other languages, I'm testing everything later.

Some news about a cable that works on MQB cars like New Jetta 2019, Tiguan MK2, New Polo ? Hex-can doesnt support it

ODIS (clone, official) with VAS or VXdiag (cheapest but needs a GEKO online access for all cool functions)
Other will not have full acess to this platform (From 1 to 3 ECU not responding, that's the issue I have with customers cars)

vag12.12 cable disabled by newer than 12.12 vcds or networked vcds. Used Kolimer's VCDS Loader v7.1 got it all working perfectly with VCDS 18.9.

Was fortunate the cable (friend bought it a couple of years back) had bootloader enabled so no need for any HW mods. Just flashed the cable (failed 2x before 3rd times a charm) following by running vcds via vcdsloader, update to 1.96 and everything works. Just follow the directions in the info file in Kolimer's software package.

Here are the pics of what I have. Ignore the soldering marks on the USB red wire. It came loose so had to solder it back on. For whatever reason it had to solder onto C13 rather than then pad. I guess no continuity to the pad. Chinese manufacturing haha.

atmega 162:
PIN 1 MOSI
PIN 2 MISO
PIN 3 SCK
PIN 4 RESET

those G T R V most likely is for STC chip:
G - GND
T - TXT
R - RXD
V - +5V

But if put on cars with 12V led red and after green but interface not ok if 12V is present car or supply

If you test without 12V then atmega and other parts are not powered up at all.. you get OK because your FT232 eeprom content is OK.
Not Ok can be because wrong Firmware/Eeprom content in atmega..

so i reflash with VAGCOM_EEWriteLang.exe with english, now bootloader is present

flash ok

after i try with 12V and vcds 18.9.0, interface ok, update necessary to 1.96, so update ok and now all is ok !!!!

Which one is the most cost-effective for long coding? (specifically F5 module on Seat 2018)
From what I see - HEX-CAN cable is the cheapest ($25 for old cable that can be upgraded) and should still be able to code this module, right?
