Used an AK90+ to read the EWS 3 in my Z4 managed to save the Bin file and coded two keys one a Diamond shape the other a Flip Type with the correct chips in them. Keys 1 to 3 have been used and I only have one key with the car. AK90 shows 1-3 used, the working key I have is reported in BMW Scanner as Key 2, AK90 also shows key as No2 Vin and shows as WBABT32040LR41526 when key tested in AK90.
New keys were written using the saved Bin file, the Diamond key as Key4 listed as unused, the Flip key coded as Key5.
Tested after coding Key4 Vin WBABT3A04WTR41D26
Key5 Vin WBABT3A04WTR41D26
Tried both keys in ignition and both switch on but do not start the car, had a look in BMW Scanner at key status and both are reporting Wrong Codes for both keys and set error codes. Getting Wrong Fixed Code, Wrong Passwotrd and Wrong Random Code for both keys.
Don't know the history of the car but EWS module looked untouched, chip pins were still coated when I had it out to read it and had to have the coating removed to get pin touch.
Also had a look in INPA and it tells me that the key ID,password and changing code are incorrect hence keys are invalid.
I don't want to mess around with my only working key so have not tried to write the Bin file back to the EWS, I understood that there was no need to do this as the vacant slaots were already programmed into the EWS and DME?
Any advice on whats going wrong would be very welcome, don't like being beaten, it was never like this on You Tube!!

Renault ECU tool / IO terminal / A.S.W
In the UK Car is 2003 E85 Z4 2.5
In ak90 you should activate keys and write dump back, offcourse if you got enough big balls
In my case always when I work with ak90 I have to change keys as used to start working.
I wrote the keys and the AK verified them as OK, no options in AK to activate them, all of the video guides I have seen do not write back to the EWS, just try the key and they start the car as the slots 1-10 should be already programmed in the car. Don't think I have the balls to write the dump file back to the EWS in case it screws the working key up leaving me with a dead car.
Should the Vin number of all keys be the same? The new coded keys match Vin numbers but the working key differs?
No need to write back the bin file - write back need when you want to disable missing keys
read again and program new transponders PCF7935 on position 8 or 9
maybe bad batch transponders
Thanks for the confirmation about not needing to write back to the EWS, that was my understanding.
The keys and transponders they came with were from different suppliers so whats the odds on both transponders are bad? Willing to try again with new transponders can I write them as key 4 and 5 even if I have already had coded the non working keys on these slots or do I have to use 8 and 9 as new slots, I don't want to run out of free slots and end up with a full EWS?
Using up slots should be the least of your worries get the keys into virgin slots with new transponders.
please open the keys and upload the pictures on the chips inside
Well tried a new transponder in the key and coded in as No.8, same result Wrong Fixed, Random and Password showed up in BMW Scanner so no start. Noticed that AK codes the key and when tested bshows the Key number which was chosen when coding. On BMW Scanner it identifies the key as another slot number so there is a mismatch, don't see how this can be. Have coded to 8, 9 and 10 with same result.
Anyone got any ideas on whats going on?
Working key when tested on AK shows
Key No 2 Vin:WBABT32040LR41526 (Shows as Key 1 in BMW Scanner) Key works fine.
New Key coded as 10 Vin:WBABT3A04WTR41D26 (Shows as Key 9 in BMW Scanner) No Crank.
Have aligned the DME/EWS in BMW Scanner, it reported as completed but it made no change to get the new key working.

Chip looks OK
Try new EWS reading if again can't program working key maybe your tool is faulty
when you write transponder, do you change from elmos to pcf?
Yes selecting the right option when writing to key.
