The remote for sure isn't faulty - check the battery if no signal
the car battery is dead and can't unlock remotly the car
You must jump the car to unlock it remotly
Hi all, i have an E46 with a dead remote key - the barrel in the door does not work, doesnt unlock the car. It has been a fault for a while according to the customer.
the boot barrel works and opens the boot, but the ski hatch is too tiny to get through with anything substantial? its deadlocked.
any ideas?
you can PM me if its safer, cheers

Remote is faulty, it is china aftermarket and he changed battery and now it doesnt open car,, it emits frequency OK but it will require RESYNC at minimum.
car battery is fine, i can access the boot but ski hatch too tiny to gain any further access and car is deadlocked.

Remove plastic cover (you have to broke the clips, but you can after job blue it) and drill in place where screw hold the lock. With a little luck screw unscrew yourself if you will drill with correct angle and place. If you miss, use larger drill to remove screw.

Ah sorry, yes battery is fully charged, no issue there checked with multimeter.
ski hatch is OPEN but so tiny and being small boot, no way of getting through it.
i am not with car right now, but will go back, i am wondering if disconecting battery and connecting again might release the door deadlock or some little trick.
i dont work with many E46 with this issue before

You can also use a airwedge one of my guys airwedged a mini put key in ignition with plastic conduit, or you can knock out spot welds by ski hatch put small child in with key

I could wedge open no issues yes but getting the key into the igniton would be a right pig i think!
haha i have a 3 year old but knowing her i would lose her in the car too she wouldnt know what to do with the key haha

ive done it may times on many safe locked car over the time from passenger side with a long piece of wire.
With a little practice its an easy job.
Or you can remove the rubber trim under the window and grab the tailpiece of the lock and turn to opening direction, its a bit tricky but can work also.
Countless lockpicking stuff, AVDI Original, Tango, Orange 5, TMpro2, sooo mutch chinese stuffs from FVDI Full through VCDS to Benz key programmers, 3 cats and hopefully still 20 fingers......
