Hi All,
Firstly, thanks for all the info on this forum, there seems to be some very knowledgeable and helpful members!
Hopefully, you don't mind another newbie!
I want to start learning about the EDC16 as that is the ECU on my own car.
I want to start by identifying some basic maps and EGR off and learn as I go.
Attached is the file read from my car by mpps.
2006 VW Golf 5
2.0 TDI PD 140s (103kw)
Ecu: EDC16U34
Ecu No: 03G906021KK
Sw: 381019
I am using WinOLS 2.24
I have read some guides, watched videos etc. But many of them say what to do, but not really why (for further understanding)?
Questions:
1. When I open the original file in WinOLS, it tells me 2 checksums not correct.
It then says a checksum needs to be corrected even though this seems be an original data file.
How can this be possible when the file has not yet been modified?
2. It appears there are 2 sets of maps present.
Is this for different gear boxes (manual / dsg)?
3. I think I have identified EGR maps at:
187DA8
193364
1C4C18
Is this correct?
4. How do I identify EGR hysteresis maps and how do they relate to the actual EGR maps?
I understand they will be 20x1 (search for 0020?)
Will they be present in both sets of maps?
4. How can I be confident in the checksum before writing the file back to the car via MPPS?
5. Is there a damos file to help with my learning? Does damos vary by sw version?
Any help / advice appreciated.
Thanks
Jason
