No there's something wrong there, not sure what.
Hi guys i have just been updated to 20 mb broadband speed from virgin media .
speedtest shows my speed to be pretty much exactly that
but when i do speed test thats connected to my pc that conects to the network through homeplugs the speed is barely 5 mb the home plugs support 85 mbps
can someone tell me if this is correct ?
No there's something wrong there, not sure what.
85mb should give you a transfer speed of around 10mb per second its all bits and bytes and multiplying by 8 or dividing by 8 and i can never remember the difference between bits and bytes, but as a baseline, you should be getting actual speeds of 10ishmbps, the factor in stuff like power adaptors plugged into same socket as homeplug and that'll be the reason your getting 5mbps
Fave replies from various threads
1: What the fff is all that about??? All that crap below your reply I mean, get a life mate

Had nowt but trouble with my homeplugs. Binned them off in the end.
Seemed that everytime the combi boiler kicked in, it dropped the speeds to about 1mb.
Just to add homeplugs can be hit & miss, certain factors have to be taken like, distance, buildings structure, wall thickness & other wireless gadgets...
Get get around 78mb out of my Devolo's. There's a small utility that comes with them where you can check the speed of each one "Informer". Would be worth checking them out. Don't plug them into extensions etc.

Yo al final los quité porque tenía muchos cortes, en cambio si me llegaba bien la velocidad.
