It was a lot of problems, and the part that caused this is the following voltage regulator2920A-5.0WS .
If you still have testers from that lot, I advise you to contact the seller, ask him to send you the respective part and replace it yourself because you risk damaging the others as well. To make sure that the others have no problems, you should to measure that voltage regulator . If you don't know how, contact an electronics technician.
You don't have much to do with the pcb burned can chip, because you don't know if the ARM microcontroller has been damaged and the best thing is to send it back pcb and the seller send you another pcb for replacement.

One is 5v linear regulator..... Not sure what the 8 pin is DADU 1849 chip is.


Edit....Just reread the post from Hid3 and p.m message from very helpful person its the CAN Transciever....although couldn't find any info on the chip on google.

What hid3 saying if i got this right is the voltage reg might be duff or it might be fake regulator it might be outputting 9v instead of 5v which 2920a -5.0ws is....note 5ws is the output....so if you have electronic store get a proper 2920A 5v output....that's the reason it might be burning the Can chip....you easily test it yourself if you have multimeter....if remember middle pin is output...and left pin ground....you should have around 5v to ground.

Answering these:
This was just my initial guess that regulator may be defective or incorrectly marked.
There may be other reasons, including but not limited to:
1) mistake when printing PCB
2) shorted capacitor(s) somewhere in the circuit
3) incorrect resistor value (too low)


I'd say there is high chance that the rest of Billyym's cables might burn the same way unless real root caus eis investigated.

You can use any of these parts : AZ1117IH-5.0TRG1 ; SPX1117M3-L-5-0 ; NCV1117ST50T3G ; AZ1117H-5.0TRG1 ; MIC39100-5.0WS or LT1117IST-5#PBF . Some of them cheaper and better then the presented part number from user fly

2920A have the same pinout like 7805, b.e.

For me fine too. Already tried with various car models from 2013 (MQB) until 2017 (Audi MLB).

It sounds really strange that not everyone suffers from this issue. Guys, could you please share the links where did you buy these cables? Honestly, i don't believe that there are any differences in cables from China, but who knows...

It depends on you are lucky or not i would recommend try the newest one (021.05) firstly and if you will experience any problems, you can downgrade your FW with older VII Plus version.

I have STM32405 hex-v2, for unknown reason when I started VIIplus loader to load french 21.3 or any other it is locked and show illegal device
anyone found a solution ? any idea to flash with VCIUPDATE? who has this app please send it to make a try
