Either way, it is not cheaper to buy badrax or kolimer version and then upgrade. You can buy cheaper clone, but if it is not one of flys hex v2's, then you run the risk it will be bricked if you try to upgrade.

Yes, but depends on the year of your car.

ATMega chipset devices are the cheapest, but will only work on cars up to 2017. STM32 chipset will do all cars up to current year, but are more expensive.

Also worth noting, whenever you use VCDS with a clone adapter, turn off WiFi on your Laptop/PC, to ensure it has no internet connection. Some adverts state you can use it while connected to internet, but DO NOT trust this statement as your adapter could end up being blocked.

If you are doing long coding, also be aware that you will have zero support from RossTech if something goes wrong. They will not offer any assistance if you end up coding incorrectly or if the adapter has corrupted the module you are trying to code.

Its worth noting though. Corruption can take place if you don't know what you are doing.

Regarding common sense... You wouldn't believe the amount of new members on the RT forum getting banned the moment they post an Autoscan when requesting help They're either naïve, or a chancer, which get spotted rather quickly by their forum admins
