Epson SX125 waste ink counter reset

    Hey guys,

It took me ages to source a SX125 waste counter reset program that works, so I thought I would pop it on here.

I've uploaded it into the download section, but thought I may as well pop it on here with a bit of guide too.

I've only tested it on XP 32bit, with a UK SX125 printer, so that's what the instructions will be tailored for. By all means try it on other OS's and feel free to post results.

    Reset instructions for SX125:
    • Install printer if not already installed.
    • Download and extract attached file into a folder on your hard drive.
    • Run 'AdjProg.exe' and click 'Accept' on the splash screen then click on 'Select' at the top.
    • From the pull down boxes, select 'Epson Stylus TX121' for 'Model Name' and 'ESP' for 'Destination', click 'OK'.
    • Click 'Particular adjustment mode' then from the '---- Maintenance ----' section, select 'Waste ink pad counter' then click 'OK'.
    • Click 'Check' on the bottom right, this will query the printer and give information of ink shots and so on.
    • Tick the two boxes on the left, 'Main Pad Counter' and 'FL Box Counter', then click 'Initialize'.
    • It should come up with a message abut restarting your printer, do it!

    Job done, carry on printing!

I recommend getting a waste ink tank for your printer, have a Google for one, the waste ink pipe is easily accessible from a clip in hatch on the back of the printer.

Hope that helps, if it's useful, don't forget to thank
    J.

      Hello,
The reset program is just for the Epson SX125, but it might work for the SX130 as they are very similar. Other people have reported it working on the SX130. Give it a blast!!

I've done all the steps, but the problem is always the same black cartridge not recognized, but till yesterday it worked and the cartridge had some ink remaining...
          Some suggestions?

            Suggestions:

1 - Are you using genuine or copy ink? If it's copy ink then theres a chance that the chip is telling the printer that the ink is empty or the chip has failed. Try changing the cartridge for a new one.

The reason for the 'not regonised' message instead of 'out of ink' message is the sophistication level of the copy chips, they will report the level of ink but when the ink is out it comes up with 'not recognized' even if there is still ink left in the cartridge. Clever huh?!

2 - The chip contacts in the back of the head could be corroded or bent, get a torch, take the cartridge out and have a look, if they are, pull the power out and clean or gently bend them back.

3 - Your printer's stuffed. I've seen it happen only a few times, the microprocessor that reads the chips could be faulty, time to give yourself a treat! A lovely new printer

Hope that helps, let me know! Always good to get feedback.

No it won't. The black cartridge will have to be changed.

Its ok using the program to reset your counter but the reason its there is to stop waste ink overflowing and spoiling your new carpet
Most waste ink gets held in a sponge so its worth trying to soak up any excess ink when you reset the counter.

                              Andy.
