Unpowered: go to device manager; you'll see VID and PID for cable.
Power up, test; the VID and PID are the same? If yes, try to uninstall ALL VCDS and ALL VCDS drivers, from control panel, from registry and using too FTClean for FA20 and FA24. Restart, reinstall 10.6.1 and try again, eventualy with installing driver manualy.
If VID PID are not the same, wrong eeprom dump, 93Cx6 faulty, FTDI faulty or..STC try to write in FTDI/93Cx6 another VID/PID...

I don't understand what you say.
Post here "print screens" with VID and PID unpowered and powered interface.
And two photos at good resolution with both sides of PCB.

    Hi everyone!
I repaired a couple of VCDS cables in the past mostly cablwes up to VCDS805, but today I got a vcds 908 RL version, It has ben updated via internet so now not working.
As I read about 50 pages of this topis I understand it is a FT232RL the most difficult one to repair
    here's a picture of PCB:
    ft232rl .jpg
    now my questions

If I follow this aminebot tutorial :
    - Reflash Atmega with 908 dump 908.rar.
    - Remove components IC8 , R50 , R51 , D7 as shown on the pic with red arrows.
    - Re-flash FTDI with this dump.
    - Re-flash GAL16V8 (ATF16V8) with this dump.
    - Solder 3 wires as shown on the pic with blue lines.
    - Extract files in this archive to your VCDS directory.

    Is there a new method?
What tool do i need to reprogram GAL ?

or can I try this method ? remove the gal :
    vcds no GAL.jpg
    Thanks in advance for help!!!!

    Mate
Aminebot solution it is the best
The other solutions ( without GAL ) it is good too
But as we know it is not good enough. Some functions will not work. But as I said you can do it because it is much easy to do it
What I didn;t understand it is why in one pics this solutions whithout GAL it was done in a FT232BL tool?
There's no need to remove GAL to to reflash it.
    Good luck

Because GAL, sometime can broken too; but..the solution is not the best.
GAL have a function, if not, RossTech would be removed.

So are you saying that I can flash GAL (JED file) without removing it from the PCB? How?

    Mate you didn't understood
If you have a tool with FTDi BL or BM you don't need to remove the GAL and don't need to reflash it
If you have a RL tool of course you need to remove it and the reflash it. You cannot flash it on PCB
    Good luck

    partiality true -
if you have an old tool up to 908 and than update to 11.x.x for correct working in all functions GAL/ATF needs to be mod accordingly.
