I would start by clearing codes and trying to adapt the steering angle sensor, if that fails then you will need to replace it.

so You mean steerig angle sensor is the probplem?
how about Gear box control unit error message?

Does speedo go off, is communication to ABS intermittent? Im asking as gearbox error message may be because no vss signal from abs. Is ABS/DSC control unit bosch as these units are prown to failure.

Just something to think about m8.:proud:

Had this issue previously with a 2001 X5 (similar system).
I changed the steering angle sensor and still wasn't able to initialize it. The DSC unit then looked guilty:secruity:...

so You mean DSC should be replaced?

IF the initialisation of the steering sensor does not complete successfully even with another one, then the DSC unit is a solid candidate to be replaced.
