I'm currently having a problem with my dreambox, it was working fine before and it said tune failed, i took the power cord out and now when I'm re-inserting it, nothing happens, there isn't anything on the screen or on the OLED display.

How do I solve this?

Thanks.

They do that now and then just keep putting the power in and out quickly.
Think its a way to stop you crashing the box.

I have tried that aswell, still nothing, any ideas? Just to confirm, I am meant to plug it in then take it out quickly, would that not damage the box?

THanks.

The tuner could be loose and would give this symptom also. Take of the back plate, slide out the tuner and re-insert it.

Power back up the box to test and it should work. Power down again put back plate on and power back on.

You need to remove the tuner and replace it back in it's slot and then power up. Are there any signs of life at the back of the box, i.e. the ethernet port LEDs?

Other than that try Dreamup and see if that can see the box.

Was going to say that wont it connect to Dreamup, doesnt sound good does it?
Think i would wait till it cools down and try again.
Where did you buy it from?

From aliexpress in HK, I purchased 1 already before and it's still working fine. I've compared this one to the one I have already and it looks nothing similar, on the tuner it says MIDE instead of MADE.

Also, am I corrent to say the box wouldn't boot up without a tuner?

Thanks.

Not sure about that mate but can you swap tuners over to see if it is that,or try the dud tuner in the working box.
It would rule a few things out mate.

I think I'm going to leave it till tomorrow and retry, I don't want to disassemle the fully working one just incase something goes wrong.

Thanks very much for the help so far

Just tried it again, still nothing coming up, is there something I can replace inside the box that's gone wrong?

Thanks.

I had exactly the same problem. Check for some slight melting around the power connector on the back of the box.

I was trying out some images when then I got Tuner Failed and then the Motherboard died. When I looked inside there was a dark patch around the PSU connector on the motherboard. There should be a light on the PSU brick which should indicate that its OK and giving power. When the box is turned on the Ethernet light should come on blinking. If not I'm afraid the board may have fried.

I bought a new board from my seller. You could try an exchange under warranty. Thats what Satsmo advised me.

I normally flash through Dreamup but when this happened I was flashing through the Web Interface. In doing so I unplugged and replugged a few times to enter the second stage bootup process. I cant be sure but I think this may have caused some sort of surge to my motherboard. But that does not explain the Tuner Faild just before it dying.

With a new motherboard my box is fine now, so Tuner and PSU where not faulty.

Just hopes this helps your troubleshooting.

Hi, thanks alot for replying. I had the same problem, tuner failed before I unplugged the power. I also flashed through the web interface. Is the motherboard hard to replace, how can I get one in the UK, I don't want to send this one back to HK as it will cost alot of money.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks again.

Motherboard will cost you 90 quid and no guarantee so i would try and send it back and get a replacement mate if it wont start up.

Wow, that's alot, I thought it would be something around 50 quid, I think I will send it back. Do you know anyone that ordered abroad? Is there a chance the box wouldn't get to the seller in HK if I do send it back?

Thanks again.

The motherboard is simple to replace.
If it is gone, I paid 80 euro for mine. I didn't send my old board back because I just wanted the football back on asap as the season was coming to an end. Now I wish I returned my old board as the new one took only about 9 days with HK post with which the tracking of it was very good.

I'm nearly sure most of these boxes come from the same business district in china and they are not that bad to deal with. In saying that if you send an email one day they will answer it during the night and you will recieve it the next day and so on. This can be a problem sometimes when you're asking simple questions due to the language barrier.

I hope your box comes back to life but if I was you and it is the board that's gone. I'd tell your seller the motherboard has failed and if you sent it (the motherboard) back would he replace it.

Or you could ask how much for a new motherboard in euro or pounds including delivery, Thats what I did to my seller here: Contact Us : Dreambox.me.uk, Best Prices on Dreambox and CCTV (http://dreambox.me.uk/index.php?main_page=contact_us)

The new board I got was a new revision. Its also worth noting that a new box (incl new Rev M tuner) may be cheaper than a new motherboard & a rev M tuner.

Is there a light on the PSU?

If yes then more than likely the PSU is OK.

Does the fan startup when you power on?

I cant be 100% sure but if its totally lifeless then I would definitly say its a dead motherboard. With me a new motherboard fixed it.

I would check out the warranty with your seller. Sending only the motherboard back for a new one involves less weight and maybe quicker and cheaper in both directions.

Thanks, the fan doesn't power up, it didn't power up even when it did work.

I ordered one already from the supplier and I think when I get the new one I will send the faulty one.

I didn't want to risk sending it then waiting a long time to get a new one.

I took everything apart, plugged the power into the motherboard but no light for the ethernet comes up so I take it it's dead.
