Sounds like the PSU, known problem on both early and newer batches

Be a man and open it up and check out the PSU :) Look for either burn marks or components that have exploded, if unsure post some pics here.

Depends on what's gone wrong with it and what your soldering skills are like.

You'd not be a man, you'd be a fool trying to solder caps on a 240v psu if you don't know what you are doing or know how to discharge some of them.
Just order a new PSU and be done with it.

quite possible as the build in clone boxes lately is a disgrace.

lol that would be just luck, ya put it on standby when not used would be good idea, or even put it on deep standby, should be able to still record

From the pics it's quite difficult to say but there doesn't seem to be any exploding components on the PSU. What did your guy who knows all about PSUs say?

Looks like an extra capacitor, are there any numbers on it, just had a look at the pics I posted of my PSU and it doesn't have that extra cap although the holes for it in the PCB are there.

hi m8
the only numbers on it is 473 if you look under your psu it has something in place where holes is and there is more elsewhere on underside of board but they are very small

It is the heat that kills, extra cooling should help like an external fan. It seems these PSU's are operating at their maximum output.

Can you post up some pics if you don't mind of the diffs on the underside?
