Try this. Uses a simple system if you compare the two files you will see what I mean. Tachsoft has the solution as well. Dont forget to remove the chip from the board and plug the cluster back into the car to clear mileage on body control unit.

What programmer do you use on this chip.

And tachosoft should be ok, i used it in the past once , very easy algo.

If you do the job correctly ie. desolder the eeprom, re-fit the cluster without the eeprom and start the engine for about 30 seconds to be sure, then re-solder the eeprom after programming it with the attached dump, you will have 204,700 kms. Arthur.

It would appear that our friend gselectric needs supreme accuracy as bmwparts gave him a good dump but not 204,700 kms. It was 204,800 kms. Close but no cigar. Arthur.

I think that was maybe a programmer called Smok?

[mind you, probably the best result for an old RR, up in smoke]

seriously, If someone is not sure how to do a job, its madness to proceed without at least asking on here for a quick run through of the correct procedure.

pity the smoke wasnt mentioned in post no. 5.

if you solder a dil socket in, then each time you **** it up its easier to replace the chip !

i already do that i soldered a socket i will try to find out tomorow from where the smoke came out maybe they hide fidek castro with cigar inside the range rover instrument cluster

I think on that model its one of the Marx Brothers.

make sure you havent over soldered the pins from the back of the board causing excess solder to flood through the holes and connect pins under the socket where you cant see it.
