93s56 can i read by 93c56?

OFF TOPIC:-

I tried to read SHASHO engine ecu eeprom was a B25??

was infact a 93S56 but i tried to read as 93C46 and just got

dump full of "9F"

So not going to be defeated i installed the new immo off dump in an 93C66 refitted the ecu and sent it on it's way.

The eeprom, i taped it to a can of Poundland grey paint and sent it to PremierD for an xmas presant (this CAN be verifiyed)

The engine ECU also stores the miles. (DK RUMOR)

UPA.

Read protect register and make a note.
Clear protect register.
Change data.
Write protect register.

As milage is a contiunus opperation. Why protect it?

Or does it stop jump dtsrting corrupting?

In my experience these eeproms are best dealt with off the board. I can't answer why these eeproms work like this (I presume it is because they have a security byte) but this is my experience. These eeproms are in some of the 5 series BMW's & this is my experience of them with the UPA. If you select the 93S66 or any 93S option, you will see some check boxes for the procedure I have said. Read protect register will show you a byte of data, make a note. Clear the protect register will enable you to write to the eeprom. Write whatever you need to write. Write the protect register back (with the code it showed when you read it). If you don't write the protect register back to the eeprom you will have problems. If you have a equipment to do these eeproms it will do all of this procedure for you (in my experience). I don't think you can use 93c56 or cs or any othe 93 option to program these. I'm not 100% but this is my experience.
