I have a Denso ECU made around 2003, the case is half plastic and half metal and appears to be glued together. Can anyone please give me some tips on how to open it without damaging the case, I am thinking about heating it to soften the glue, will that work? TIA James

It looks like this one: DENSO ASTRA H 1.7 Engine Control unit | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DENSO-ASTRA-H-1-7-Engine-Control-unit-/321126875232) there is a grey/white sealant of some sort between the black plastic 'top' of the case and the metal lower half. I did find another image on the web of a similar looking unit and it had a lot of thermal paste along one side. I'm hoping that if I heat the case it may soften the sealant.

it's simple, covers are both metal, there's no plastic.
glue isn't hard...remove the 4 screw and open in a side where's connectors are, first with a cutter, then with a little flat screw driver
warm up a bit the ecu with a blow dryer, it's a trick that help a lot
it's simpler than you think
