Hi guys,
I updated my dbox 500s with Nabilo Dakrstar . After doing a transpod. scan it won't display some channels of the Nova Greece provider nova (http://www.nova.gr/eng/channelslist.asp)
IE:
Service Name
Boomerang
Chasse & Peche
E! Entertainment
GAMES
Mad Radio
Nova Promo
novacinema3
novasports highlights
novasports4
novasports6
Playboy TV
Private Spice
The History Channel
All those channel's won't show up - I even tried a manual search using the frequencies but nothing.
I don't want to access them - I just want them to be displayed in the list. What could cause this problem?
Thank you

(I even tried getting a hotbird satellites.xml file from that satellites-xml website but still nothing)

you say you have only done a transponder scan.. you do know not all the Nova channels are on the same transponder.. have you tried a full scan of 13E.??

Yes, I did a FULL scan on 13E and found around a thousand of services but those specific channels are not listed. Thats when I did try a manual scan using the frequency of the specific channels but still no luck. What could be causing it ? :\
(btw I am using DarkStar for my DB500S. I have to mention here that doing a scan using a hotbird xml file from satellites.xml generator (http://satellites-xml.eu/) displays some more channels that the default scan with darkstar does not. But, in both cases, the channels I mentioned above will never show. I only remember seeing them once back when I first bought the dbox. Since then they disappeared)

must be an image problem mate.. i've just done a full rescan of 13E and got all those channels using Gemini 4.2
Try a different image if you want them :)

Thanks for your replies mate. Which image would you suggest ? I know I cannot install Gemini as it will kill my clone DB500s :\

You can install Gemini 4.2 onto a clone box.. the kills came in v4.3 and above..
DK v1.1 is a good one
have a look in here

Ok i am back :-)
After experiencing some problems I managed to install Gemini 4.20, but still, those channels mentioned above do not show up in the channels list :\
The only time I saw them was when I did my first scan when I first received the receiver with it's initial image (cant remember which it was though - my DB500s is a clone if that helps?).
A few days after receiving the receiver I flashed it with Darkstar and since then those channels are a no-show. Could it be that some settings of darkstar which caused the channels to disappear are still in the box, so, even after flashing with other images those channels are still a no-show ?
Because I cant think of any other reason why the channels do not appear in the channels list:\

No.. assuming you did the flash erase no Darkstar settings are left..
Sound like it could be a tuner problem.. unless you havent made / downloaded the satellite.xml file proprerly..
wipe the satellites.xml file located in:
var/etc
replace it with this one (a copy of mine), unzip the file using WinRAR and extract the .xml file
Try a full rescan of Hotbird and any other satellites you view
See if that sorts it out ;)

opsmonkey: I tried the tuner at another place and all the channels work fine.
Trying it @ my place, only some of them work.
So my question now: Could it be the LNB wire/cable not making a good contact with the receiver?
Or could it be a problem with the satellite dish/lnb on it?
Thank you

(Oh need to mention here that all the channels that work have a SNR of around 80% + .. whilst the ones that dont work have an SNR of less than 80.. usually around 70-72.. How can that be fixed?
thank you

As above..
Check your dish and LNB.. how old are they both..?
Check all the cabling for splits or breaks.
Are the ends seated correctly or are they too short / long..??
Have you a great big tree in the line of sight of your dish..??

the thing is, i dont want to move the dish or anything because I dont know how to make it point to hotbird etc :\
the dish/lnb are about 5-6 years old.. and there's no tree in between the lnb/sky
