Wii Softmod for Dummies(without Zelda)Reupload

this soft mod uses the bannerbomb crack read the pdf file and follow the instructions and all should be fine. I have not tested this on version 4 but feedback would be welcome. Print out the pdf. file before you do anything read it twice and follow the instructions precisely step by step.
For those downloading the games use the Patcher to convert all the games burn at slow speed( i burn at 4x using nero) use verbatim - (not +)discs. This is for versions 3 wii's.Please do not use this thread for first post, the thread is to help those that need help and advice.

I finally got my tester game "Mad Tracks" to work this morning but it was gray so I just continued installing them stupid IOS's and now all the sudden every app I try goes black. My HBC works to. I had updated to 4.2 before I softmodded and everything started to work until now. Someone pleeeeeese help. Is there a way I can start at the beginning?

:stupid: Do I need to download Zelda in order to play games from another region? I bought my Wii in the EU and then bought some games from the US, not really thinking that it would be a problem to make them work on the EU Wii but....
Now I am a little confused; Can I use this tutorial to make the games work or do I also need to download Zelda?

ok that your bootmii you can take that off your card and store it on your pc dont loose it,or better still rename your bootmii folder to anything you want,then it wont start up when you boot your wii

I got HBC working and HD (WD elements 1TB, partition 500GB WBFS) Loading original Mario games takes a while and makes a lot of noice. I can choose the games and for ex. Mario Kart wii, hangs quickly.

I finally got my Wii softmodded. The install went well with no errors. When I try to use The Homebrew channel I just get the "bubble screen". The icon at the bottom right of the screen flashes and then turns solid (world icon).

I remember reading a post about that, but I cant seem to find it again.

you have not patched ios36 you need to do that first

yes did exactly what was told in the guide, formatted my sd card, did the install and to my sd card, then inserted it in the wii, did the process there, the wii restarted with the channels but as soon as i select one it just restarts

do i need to copy the files to the sd card and then install or can the install happen from pc

nope don't work, get to install the homebrew channel but then it just goes in and does nothing, i don't really care about homebrew, just want to play backed up games. any chance i can only download that?

why can't this just work and why is it so much trouble. just something I wondered, the memory card needs to be FAT32 right? that is what I used.

L.E. I've installed the softmod for dummies,and all went ok...but when i insert a burned copy of any game and start it from the backup launcher the disk trying to start and the game is not starting...if i insert a original game(wii sports) the disk is starting from both launchers(the disk Wii Resort original tell's me to update)...the version of the firmware is 3.4E

Hi guys,

New to the site and have been trying to softmod my wii version 4.2E have followed the instructions and where it says create a folder called SD:\apps in the root directory of the SD drive I am stuck it tells me I cannot use these characters. I am not really that great with PC's so this has been causing me grief when trying to get the homebrew channel installed on my wii using my SD card with the files I have downloaded. Can anyone give me a complete idiots guide on how I get this to work from downloading the files, how to create such a folder on my SD card and so on this would be greatly appreciated and will stop me losing what hair I have left lol
