Hallo friends

I've a problem with Land Rover Freelander year 2001, td4 engine.
The car during long trips on highway at mid-high speed (140-150 Kmh)
develope a strange fault.
The car start to loss power and the speed go down.
In ecu memory there is a undocumented DTC P1470.
I've two scan tools Launch and Texa by the way all of them read a P1470 Dtc without any info.
Have you an Idea what is the explanation of DTC P1470 ?
Anyone have a Testbook T4 and a list of Land Rover DTC'?
Help appreciated.

Thank you very much

P1470 = loss of turbo boost pressure
check for burst pipe or faulty sensor

This sounds all to familiar could you do me favor m8 and drive vehicle with launch on it and check turbo pressure when fault occurs and pls note the colour of exh smoke too P1470 variable intake fault (variable turbo on that particular vehicle) if you want get the info back to me and I could guide you in the right diretion but if you confident with the vehicle bang on M8

Intercooler pipes go soft because of oil leaks so check all hoses. Do you hear a whistle when the turbo spins up??

Thank you to all.
I suspected a turbo loss, and checked hose pipes (replaced two hoses, one with small crack), replaced pressure sensor and checked all pneumatic hoses of turbo' variable geometry.
Today i'll check more accurately intercooler and air hoses.
Thank you very much.

can you get your hands on a smoke pro?

Your error history looks like a fuel pressure error.

Near right rear wheel of your vehicle there is fuel filter and fuel pump. please measure fuel pressure. It must be at least 2bar while engine is running around 3000rpm.

You may measure fuel pressure from pipes at left side of engine room. there is a fuel pressure sensor and its pipe connections.

There is one more thing about this guess. If your problem really from fuel pressure decrease there must be engine fault lamp while loosing power at high speeds.

yes fuel pump rhs wheel arch, do fail
might be under the hood next to batery

under inlet manifold check the breather pipe hasn't got blocked up

lots of oil smoke at 20mph

Thank to all.
This car have two fuel pumps. Some times ago i've replaced the two fuel pumps and filter.
I've replaced a couple of months ago also Mass air sensor.
When the fuel pump error go mad, usually there is a specific dtc, regarding fuel pressure too low. This is not the case.
By the way my dtc is undocumeted P1470.
Now i've re-checked all the hoses, also pneumatic hoses (egr and
turbo variable geometry control solenoid).
I'm focused mainly in a fault in this area (egr and pressure geometry control solenoid).
I'm not be able to repeat the fault just to check what happens.
Customer told me, when he drove the TD4 on the highway the fault appears. The cars slow down and go in limp mode.Dtc 1470.
In the last weeks also (he told me) develope black smoke during cold start.
Monday i'll replace the pressure geometry control solenoid and re-test the car.
Thank you very much for your help guys.

Hallo friends

Thank you for your support.
I've replaced the VGT solenoid, Land Rover Part. STC4198.
Now the car works well without any other error.
So the correct route (i think) to detect DTC P1470 is:
Check all vacumm hoses to egr and vgt solenoid.
Check the integrity of vacumm accumulator near the engine.
The turbo' variable geometry must move free without any assle.
The vgt pneumatic actuator must be work.
Check the pressure sensor on the mainfold.
Check egr and vgt solenoid with a vacumm pump and check with a scope the presence of main signal from ecu to solenoids.
Hope this help.

Bye bye
