Got this red nec uPD 78 programmer keeps on giving receiver timeout error using windows XP pc and com port and cable also tried with Rs232 to usb converter cable same issue
See my PCB images attached any advice or possible repair option appreciated

perhaps you can share softare you use for your device i tried on Win 10 get error uPD78 Dashboeard Programmer not found and sometimes receiver timeout error
How does my PCB compare to yours perhaps any component i can change

Just install the right drivers

my LM7805CV voltage regulator gets very hot when power 12V 1A supply is connected when i remove the Max232CPE driver form the board it goes back to normal operating temparature
could it be the Maxim 232 driver for the Rs232 port

Where can I buy a good quality NEC uPD 78 programmer tried 2 from both very poor quality with bad quality pcb and components missing
