DM500 Flashing and re-imaging

Dear All,
I am farely new to dreambox world. I bought it from a vendor who had the image and evreything installed for viewing channel packages. Can any one help me which files are these which are used for the above?
Plus if I upgrade the image on the box, which files do I need to backup so that I can put them back once the upgrade is done and do not lose any channels...

You indicate in your earlier thread that you have a 500s (satellite) you may be better posting in the sat section mate. If its a cable box happy to try and help.

im interested, i have a dbox and a dreambox.Story short version had a dbox for a few years
then 3 years ago got a dreambox flashed it with 04 image and basically not touched it since.The question is do i need dreamup for up to date image or can i ftp one over cheers
