DM500 Question

Hi all,

I just got a set of DM500C. It is loaded with PLI-JADE software. I got a few question below. Please do advice..tks



1) Is my software is the lastest version? My DM set there is one function mention of software update search VIA internet. Is it recommend to do it?

2) I manage to use flashXP to link my pc and DM set. I link up by pc and DM set via lan cable to router. How can i backup my current image? In case if the set corrupt and i can able to retrieve back.

3) How do i activate the webTV on PC? When i click in, it mention no plugin. Is there any plugin i need to install into my pc before i see through my PC?

1)Your image date stated clearly in your post.

2)Since you just started to learn i suggest you use Dreamup v1331 to backup your image very simple and easy to understand.

3)Google for webtv plugin. Ftp to /temp file.

1) When u do a software update, you might lost yr valuable data that is why u need to backup yr image if something goes wrong.
2) Beside backing up yr image, save yr whole var folder and yr bouquet.
3) To use webtv to view on pc, u can use vlc player.

Yes, you must have null modem cable when using dreamup.

Null modem cable + lan cable if network flash using dreamup.

No two way about it.

You might want to consider telnet flashing but you need to have the user & password (root & dreambox) if still in default.

You have DM500C,meaning you using cable.Fyi DM500HD only made for sattelite. What do you do for sattelite box?

i think you need DM800C-HD

Go for DM800HD best of the best currently......Theres many plugin you can play example youtube,movies,etc you even can do recording of your favourite channel if you attach the machine with hardisk.
