    It means File Transfer Protocol.

Its a method of transferring files from one medium to another.

For example, transferring files from your PC to the dreambox or transferring files from a PC to a web server.

Here's a guide for the dbox2 but it's the same for the dreambox.

ive just done a guide to use flash fxp a ftp client here.

right ive seen too many people thinking that they need to add a new image, nothing is further from the truth, you only need to add the new fix file to your old image. now im presuming that some people might find the idea of flash fxp (ftp) a bit daunting if they have not used it before so heres a little help. this is based

Thank you very useful, this might seem like a silly question but does the dreamboxstill need to be connected to the TV and NTL to be able to do this or can i just unplug it ake it to another room where the PC is ?

No it doesn't need to be connected to the feed. It's advisable if you are flashing it using the menus to have it connected to a TV .

But if you're using the Dreamup and null modem cable method then you don't need a tv or cable feed.

thanks for the quick reply, so is a router necessary or can i connect the dreambox directly to my pc via the ethernet port? or directly to the modem?

More info has been added here which explains this a bit better.
