Wiping or flashing my DM500C

Hello Everyone,

I bought the DM500C to be used on Virgin, but resendly a freeview channels works well but all paid channels are now Blank/Black Screen. I do get the Info on the channel and also the EPG but no image or sound.

I would like to wipe the box and start from scratch, but not very sure about what image to use, the files that is needed to upload to the box.

If anyone have a step by step instruction, please can you help.

PS very new to this

Servers for these are rare as hens teeth,most go down the sat route.
If you want to start again start by looking at the red stickies on each section all the info is there.

Looks like I messed up. I factory reset it and now i cannot even get bbc1 to C5 as the transponder for virgin is not right. I have a brick now

I was able to reinstall the image but instead of Gemini I used DK v1.1 and using a good guide I found on this forum.
Box working again but only bbc1 to channel 5.

All other channel I get the EPG but blank/black screen and no sound

Without a server you will only get fta like BBC.
Loads more options if you have a Sat box.

Can you recommend a Sat box and software I need to put on it. I assume I need to plug the box to the Sky dish e.g using a splitter from the main cable?

You dont want to be splitting anything.If you already have a dish that will be fine or change the lnb from a single to a twin.

If you paid a guy to fit you a dish it wouldnt cost you more than 70 quid supplied and fitted but most go down the motorised route with a 170 supply and fit as a guide to price.

Cant beat Dreambox 800hd good all round box for about 100 quid from China.Lots of support for this box with images plugins etc
There are other boxes like Openbox which is cheap as chips and vu duos plus the blade but i prefer Dreambox.

Do you think my exist DM500C will ever reconnect, I experienced this same problem 2 month ago and after a week all came backup. Now after flashing it I think I might have not uploaded additional files needing to descramble the signal.

Im not really sure what kind of package you had before?
We have to be careful on this forum with some of the stuff connected with boxes etc Ok to set them up and get them working but not the server side of it.
Sat is the way forward mate you wont look back.

Hi Andy, Sir can you provide me with a good online reseller for the above (i done have HD HD TV but HD read dell tv... does it matter?) or link for the order.

I need to check on the motorised dish to be fitted, (landlord might not like it)

Sky dish available with sky box, doing basic channels.

I assume with motorised dish, I could get French, Spanish TV.

My last request, is I paid ?200 for the DM500c for be connect and it worked and failed and worked and now failed. I would also like to understand this tech, as I am fascinated with the Open Source solution area.( Sorry a bit off topic)

Regards your DM500C you paid a server over the odds for a bad service. That's one of the problems of using a payserver, along with a lot of others that have killed the hobby of sat......now they have moved onto cable.

As Andy said we cannot discuss CS, (cardsharing) on the forum, up to a certain technical level and we never speak about a particular UK Sat supplier in the same topic, for obvious reasons.

All your answers are here and as you can see from Andy's help we have some good people here to help you on your change over to Sat.

Hi,

Is there an image that would get the 500C working with FTA on Virgin Media? Only interested in playing around with the VLC side of things so 1 - 5 would be fine.
