DM500 vlc to dreambox

ok i followed the tut on how to stream movies from puter to dreambox,i have inputed everything that was in the tut .i run vlc from my puter and when i go to videoclient in plugins ,my screen on tv goes black and blank.i get get out of it until i reboot.i cant see anything in files ,in essencs its not working ?any help ?the tut i followed is the one in the link ?and im using dk 1.1 and my dream is connected and working to the net via bridge

yep uppdate i managed to do all that in the firt place ,have disabled firewall and now can see vlc and the path to my divx ,can also at the botom the list in red,the svcd bar the dvd bar the divx bar but cant see any files form my pc?



ive ticked to allow vlc to be used this is getting to me now , ok update disabled firewall on puter and got up this part of vlc client


vlc file mode path:k:/divx but cant see any of my files must be getting near ?what you think do i need to do anything else ?

had the same problem...first u have to start vlc on ur pc and change the streming settings,codeks,add web interface on it as per guide and then start the vlc on your box.

yep scuba done that as well m8 its really bugging me i can see the player and everything just cant see my folders where the stuff is even opened ports still didnt work

If you can't see your folders, it can only be one of two things, network setting or VLC.

Can you ping your box., firewall off! including your AV firewall?

VLC = i start it as a servce, so it on all the time.

click on run
type cmd and hit enter
cd C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC (HINT: you might have changed the destination when you installed it !!)

Now paste below and hit enter:

vlc.exe -I ntservice --ntservice-install --ntservice-options "--sout-transcode-fps 25.0000" --ntservice-extraintf "http"


After this reboot your PC. After the Reboot you can browse to VLC via http://127.0.0.1:8080

you can edit setting to your needs

birkenhead i followed your instructions because i had same problem as father ted,
i managed to play the .avi files,
but whenever i press ok on the remote control theres no sound,
and remote doesnt seem to talk to the box,
so i have to unplug and then connect it again,
but how do i work around that??

how do i pause the stream from the remote control?

i can see the .avi files i placed in my directory on my box but can't find the mkv files and x264 files,
how do i play mkv files and x264 files?

so can someone please show me where to get the latest files from
for streaming from pc to dreambox,
and where exactly to ftp them please???

This is a very very old thread.

Word of note : Newer versions of VLC are unable to decode the MPEG transport streams output by Dreamboxes. Some information is missing and the streams do not meet spec. You've got to go back to a version about 0.8.6 for it to work.
