    500c power supply issue

I've got an issue with a PSU where the light flickers on and off.
My question is, the box says its 12v (no mention of amps)

    The PSU says 12v 2a

I just happen to have quite a few various 12v (x)a kicking about but none 2a.

Does anyone know what the exact eclectrical specification is for the 500's ?

    thanks

Any 12v power supply will do as long as its AMP rating is above or equal to 1.2A or 1200mA

      Dreambox PSU (Power Supply Unit)

I've had problems with a few PSU's failing on boxes bought from 1 perticular supplier in China (very light weight PSU's) so have had to buy some replacements. I found it cheaper to buy a 12V 5A unit rather than a 12V 2A unit. The Dreambox will only take the amperage it requires so a higher rated unit is OK but would be wary of using a lower powered unit than the supplied 2A unit.
I also have several 12V PSU's with various Amp ratings kicking around but all lower than 2A's, not sure what the exact spec the box is though.

a mate plugged a 24v psu in and it worked!!! I told him to unplug it straight away. I would have thought more power going to the unit would cause more issues than a lower amp? But I have no clue about electrics
