    Cant connect to 500c

i'm having a bit of bother i hope somebody can help...?

i've tried to ftp the new rom fix's to my 500c, when i try to connect to the box it's tellin me connection failed, i'm using a crossover cable and i've read mubz guide for noobs, but i'm using flashfxp and it seem's to be a different set up,

i'm going to site manager, creating a new site, calling it dreambox entering the ip address of the box, the username is root im entering a password, im leaving remote path and the local path blank, i then press connect and connection fail's,

    any pointers appreciated......

The password must be dreambox, I am not sure if thats what you meant but you just posted you are entering a password.

When ftp'ing the port should be 21.

        Username: root
        Password: dreambox

what is your pc and dreambox ip address?

You going straight from PC to Dreambox or through a router?

I edited your post as i think you were showing your actual IP address and not your IP address of PC.

can you double check, open Dreambox control centre, it will do a ping and find your Box and you PC, post back the results.

You dont have to worry about putting your pc ip on here m8, its just local and we all have basically the same, its not your real addy.

hopefully your pc will be 192.168.0.25, one above the box IP

edit...sorry m8, never seen the mod edit. But your ip should be one above the box IP

the ip address of the pc is coming up as 169.254.169.96 and when i search for ip address of the box its doing a ping up to 100% without finding anything, it then says dreambox has no ip address, i'm baffled myself i've only ever flashed full working images with a null modem, i've checked my crossover with a multimeter against a diagram to make sure everything is crossed correctly and it seems to be fine........

thats ok, it probably meand you didnt add the username and the password before the search.

but we now got you PC IPaddress, so change your dreambox to 169.254.169.97

give that a try now should be able to connect between box and PC, or try 169.254.169.95

                      hope that sorts it.

no joy with that either, this is what happened....

                        connecting to dreambox->IP=169.254.169.97 PORT=21
                        connected to dreambox
                        connection failed (connection lost)

I think something is wrong here.

Open a command prompt and type:

                          ipconfig /all

Find your network card and note what ip address is assigned to it.

Do you only have one network card in your pc?

How are you connected to the internet?

                              For command prompt.

go to start/run and type cmd and hit enter.

Then a box will open and type as DF said.

                              ipconfig /all
