DM500 Current Uses of Dreambox 500c ?

Hi, I have an approx 2 to 3 year old Dreambox 500c clone which has had use as the "proverbial doorstop" for the last 2 years + after higher (Nagra3?) cable encryption was brought in and I watched and paid for my limited TV cable service.
I would greatly appreciate it if other members could let me know what uses can I still make of my box, incl is it possible to still be programmed for encrypted TV service, etc. and if so, how do I do it, incl links for relevant/required software.
In my current review, I note that DK image files for the DM500c( v1.1)are dated from 2008/9 so I assume ( maybe incorrectly) are of limited use.

im in the same boat,, one just went for ?5o on ebay so that looks like a shot, maybee it was bought in error thought it was a sat version,, ???

You only way you can use a DM500c for pay tv is if you find someone running a cable server and you pay for a C-line.

You can use it as a cardserver box for pretty much whatever card you want (cable or sat) although, depending on the card/system, you may have to do some substantial research/investigation.

You could also connect it to a cable cardshare client. Again, you would need to do your own research to find a suitable server but they do now exist.
