Dreambox / Wireless bridge connectivity probs

I've recently purchased a wireless ethernet bridge for the purpose of streaming movies/mp3's to/from my dreambox. Unfortunately, after much hassle of setting it up and getting it to communicate, when I go to record to PC/stream/listen to an MP3 the picture/music is "jumpy" to say the least. I've tried mucking about with caching settings to see if that would solve but to no avail. I'm now starting to think that the ethernet bridge is the problem as it's only capable of of 80211.b connectivity and my dreambox is located upstairs from where my router is. Has anyone had a bridge of this description working ok, or will I have to upgrade to a 80211.g instead?

I think the problem here is quiet simply the signal,i had the same issue viewing/streaming data from upstairs on a laptop when the router connected to the DM500C was downstairs,it was really jumpy... have you tried to see what happens if you was to move them a bit closer, Wireless Data streaming has major problems anyway within a house enviroment too much electricity/static to affect the amount of data being streamed.

What Dm do you have sounds like a dm500, if i remember rightly is is knwon for not being the best at streaming. I have no problems with DM600 streaming over a belkin wireless gaming adapter.. But I did have to upgrade the vlc recently.

Is that right caveman_nige ? i must admit when i moved within range on my crappy wireless router i had no problems whatsoever, if he has a single arial on his wireless bridge like i have on my router then i think that will cause poor signal quality within a house enviroment.
Need to get meself a twin arial linkys... much better than the freebe belkin one i have .

I think an extra antennae can only help, but can you not get the antennae extention kits with more powerful antennae etc.. one on each device (router and DM) would defo help Obviously not good for a laptop though as it would look shite..

Maybe i need to attach a dipole to my chimney

On a serious note though, i may look at getting just a replacement antenna that has a 9db gain which would improve the signal vastly, only thing is it's a bit longer than the standard stubbly one.
I will order one and let you know of my results..

plug one into the router and into the mains
plug a second one in a different room then into the dreambox
plug n play
then you are hard wired for streaming/internet

Cheers for all the tips lads..... I've got a dBox in the same room as my router, so I'll try hooking the bridge to that and see what the results are first, If it's ok there, I'll know it's a signal problem. If thats the case, I'll invest in the suggested purchase by Westkill...... it is a DM500 I'm using..... Thanks again lads.
