    VM with 500c?

Hi there, I was one very happy customer with v*m working like a charm wiv db 500c. It was a walk in a park to set up (of course then and probably not anymore) v*m to work with 500c. I about a year ago moved to the area where cable wasnt available and I ended up moving to Sky (got a half price deal through friends and family offer). Now that I am back into v*m area, I am moving back to v*m for some quality broadband exp if not anything else.
Idiotic, but lets ask - is old 500c' are working on v*m these days or not? If not, are there any viable solutions available? I have ofcourse as some would suggest, googled it but coming up with lot of confusing answers. A point in the right direction will be a great help

Lookup Kryptview and Starview (although read around first).

The DM500C can work quite happily IF you know someone who has a server for the service OR IF you know how to extract pairing details from your subbed box/card (technically quite difficult).

@ TheCoder - Are you suggesting Kryptview and Starview will work with lot more ease for lot less technically minded person (like me ) Compared to Dreambox?

@ Shaddyback. Thanks for your response. If you say its easier to set up compared to 500c, I will take it with two hands cause I felt 500c was not difficult at all. Can you tell me why is it debatable about whether or not it will work? Is it coz of all the n3 fuss? I would just like to know before investing 150 bucks , oh and as most companies say - in the current climate

Yes, but the Dreambox isn't really here at all unless your fairly technically competant so, regardless of issues, the KV/SV are really the only show in town at the moment.

Both KV/SV are reasonably cheap so, even if you only get a few months you've pretty much still saved on the full VM sub. Generally though, ALL cardshare whether it be KV/SV or a smaller dreambox system are extremely vulnerable. You really cant say any is particularly more reliable than any other - they could ALL be turned off tomorrow if VM/Kudelski were determined enough.

                      I agree with you
but as you know there are plenty of DM servers about
a curious person would ask how those guys got their pairing info...

...on one hand it's technically very difficult
but on the other hand traders are selling pairing details making a tidy profit for a few minutes work

seems this 'hobby' is about to re-invent itself

It's unlikely you'll find anyone with a turnaround of "a few minutes" who's selling extraction and rework.

But as you say, there are ample Servers around for ppl to find if they look enough.
