DVB monkey Power Supply KaBoom!

Hi All,

Got a dM500 from DVB monkey a couple of weeks ago and plugged it in last night. The power supply is a Channel Well Technology Model PAG036F serial 213580.
Just as I inserted the power jack there was a flash and a puff of magic smoke from the box and the mains breaker tripped.
I have measured the power supply and it gives 12V across the power plug BUT 110V from the power tip to ground!! There is obviously some coupling from the mains to the output and the Power supply is not isolated. Holding the outside of the barrel to a grounded object trips out the ELCB. You can light up a neon screwdriver by touching either the + or - terminal of the DC connector.
Luckily only the Box and my PC serial port got fried It could have been very expensive.
Anyone else have this issue?

Yep had a very similar issue last month,now you have to try get unit replaced... DVBMonkey appear to have gone to ground in recent weeks not replying to any of my messages relating to the status of another box that was returned faulty.
Please let me know if you manage to contact them as i have been having no joy at all for 3 weeks.

Ordered a box from them on the 4th of december!! what a mistake was that,up to today no box no refund NOTHING Anyone who is thinking of getting a box DO NOT GO TO DVBMONKEY!!! I`ve sent them a good few emails asking for the refund,but no joy,they just don`t replay.

Ordered on 7th, they them put a message up on there website on the 9th about being to busy and taking no more orders until all orders are complete.......now they have put a message up about a Boxing day sale!!????

DK IS NOT A GO BETWEEN FOR DVBMUNKEY.

IT HAS BEEN POSTED MANY TIMES BEFORE ABOUT THEM BEING UNRELIABLE ETC.......ANY ISSUES PLEASE TAKE IT UP WITH THEM NOT POSTING ON HERE AS WE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM
