You going to have to add more information to have a chance of a decent reply to that question. It really doesn't say anything as to what the actual problem is.

What are you connecting the box to (provider/encryption etc) ?
Proper description of the problem you are having and what does/doesn't work ?

Hi TheCoder,
I try on my network cable tv digital dreambox 500 C for the initiation.
1) I tried with dreamUP to update the official firmware (release_20081024.nfi) but the answer is "too big file"?!? (20'336 kb)
2) I then tried other smaller images ... and since my DB is completely frozen: black screen, no more answers with the remote :-(
3) when I try to flasche RS232 with a smaller image (to put everything back to zero) the sequence is interrupted with the message : interrupted by the user !! ?
How can I do a master reset ?

are you using a usb to rs232 cable ?

and .nfi images are not for the dm500....you need an image that ends in .img
google for 'dm500 images' or search the downloads here

yes I use a USB serial port (com3) to USB Serial Converter

and, do you know the name for a base image?

forget about that cable, flash the box using telnet if your pc does not have a proper com port

Following the doubt with my USB serial port, so I took an old laptop with a serial port and win xp.

1. the only version that works with my dreamUp DB is 1.3.2.1
2. is to flash files. I have to use img and not. nfi
(I was wrong DB model, I have a DM500C. And not a DM500plus)
3. DB agrees that the flash, you must press the front BONTON "power" before connecting the power supply and during the procedure, flash erase and flash.
