Connecting DM800HD to external HDD for recording

Hi all,
Having problems connecting my external portable harddisk to DM800. DM800 can't seem to detect my harddisk. Anyone knows how to initialise my HDD so I can record the programmes. Also, how to change the recording paths & to what?

hi go into menu then select setup then you will see hard disc press then follow instrction to initiaize when finnished press add ?
