DM600 Signal strength different on different images, why .??

I have been trying different images today, learnth from a curious tread how to telnet image via network, so much easier now to play around.

I can't get the pli jade to work, it wont lock and sync, it shows my signal as too strong, but on every other image the signal strength is ok

    my signal is always 98% & 48%,
but on the pli image it is 100% & 60% and won't lock

I have tried an atennuater, which winds to signal down, but it still wont lock

when I flash any other image back on, they are fine and show 98% & 48% and lock no problem.

I don't understand why this happens, if anyone knows I'd appreciate the pointer, I would like to get the pli image working...

    happy 2009 all . .. . . .. .. . . .

Some images are optimised for weaker signals mate.

Just find an image that you are happy with and make a backup once it's all up and running, then you can fart around with as many image as you like safe in the knowledge that you can quickly revert back to the backup at any point.

I had a similar problem with the Pli Jade image so I downloaded the cables.xml file from the downloads section and then did a bruteforce scan and it picked up all the channels.

I use the Pli Jade image on my cable dm600 and it works fine. Have you tried the cables.xml from the DK download section as it is optimised for everyone in the UK?

              Curious123,
I am on mmds eire, I use the terrestrial file, works fine on everything but the Pli image.
I can't understand why it's different, I would really like to get the jade image working. I am going to try it agin later.
I found your guide to flashing via Telnet, the best thing I've learnth so far, so it's very easy now for me to try different images.

              cheers folks . . .

                  We don't have a guide but uczmeg wrote;

                  Log into box via telnet.

                  Type:

                  mount -o remount,rw /boot
                  rm -f /boot/*
                  reboot

Open up a web browser and type in the ip address of your dreambox (which will be one it picks up via DHCP not the one you had set in the config). This should take you to a web page. Choose the upgrade option and point to where you have an image stored.

Before you do this you must:

Make sure you have a reasonable way to pick up the Dreambox via DHCP once you've nuked the image.

Have an NFI image to flash

Have a machine to connect to the Dreambox web interface with that can see the Dreambox over the network (this is where you'll flash from)

                    alliv,

I followed what Curious123 expalined above and it works a dream, takes about 2 minutes to flash a 600..
let me know if you need some help . . .

you will need your box connected via your router or via a crossover cable..

                    Cheers Curious123.

have you got a crossover cable and connected the box that way, that will do the same job without a router . . .

I think it will work just the same with the crossover cable,
maybe best wait for some of the gurus to confirm . . . .
