DM500 Box appears to be Read Only

    Hi all,

Searched the forum but can't find anything on this particular prob.

My box seems to set itself to read only. This time I was transferring the picons from my hard disk to the box, it copied 119 as far as ITV 2.png then stopped with a critical error! When I now try to transfer anything over I get 553 could not create file. This happens if I try to write a file to any directory on the box.

When this happened a couple of days ago I had to to a factory reset and start from scratch. It seems to be a permissions prob?

    Any ideas?

    cheers

Sometimes it just happens, I've not heard of a reason so far. The /tmp folder should still be writable so you can flash it if need be or do a factory reset as you did previous.

Make sure you backup your image before making any changes and after making any changes, then you will always have something to fall back on.

Cheers Devilfish, backed up everything using telnet, did a factory reset then copied the image back to the box - exactly the same!

Backup file restored successfully but still in read only mode!

      very odd

        Odd indeed?!?

I've had this happen to me when I crammed too much shite onto my DM500.

The box was chock full of stuff and it wouldn't let me do anything apart from view the files, it wouldn't even let me delete anything,

The factory reset and reflash sorted it all out though.

        Strange.
