    dreamup_problem

    hi to all,

i have a dreambox 500 clone, i tried to flashing using null modem,
the problem is when i run dream up it does not connect. i check the serial by making a loop between Rx and Tx using hyperterminal and it seems to work.

    Do you have any idea???

    thanks in advance

P.S i do not know if there is setting in a dreambox which enable rs-232 port

The serial port is enabled by default.

i check the serial by making a loop between Rx and Tx using hyperterminal and it seems to work.
Does this confirm that it's a null modem cable? It needs to be a null modem cable, not a serial or rs232 cable.

If you are using the com1 port on your PC and Dreamup is set to communicate on com1, then that only leaves the dreambox or the cable. It's usually the cable is not a null modem cable.

Set the hyperterminal com settings to:

    Bits per second - 115200
    Data bits - 8
    Parity - None
    Stop bits - 1
    Flow control - None

Reboot the box and it should say 'DREAMBOX DM500' when it boots, do you see this text?

      Hi
An alternative check and an addition to the post by Devilfish, if you have a meter to check your cable (Null Modem Cable that is), Pins 2to3, Pins 3to2, and Pins 5to5.

First, apply the dream up, then click on the connector and put in the bank cable voltage DreamBox

make sure you have a null cable (you can check it with a multimeter). Open dreamup, connect the box and switch the box on. You should be able to see the connecting message.
          Hope this helps.
