Hey, my friendly advice is not to bother. It is unreliable, poor quality and involves lots of fiddling about. At the same time I only did it to prove that I could. If your one of them people go for it.
get the VLCF plugin for the box (from the DK menu if you you have the DK image) and then mount the NAS drive. I will have a look im sure I have a tutorial knocking around.
To mount on the 500c (I found this on another forum)
On your Dreambox, go to:
Menu > settings menu > network connection > mount network volume
Edit the network settings as below:
type = cifs
server ip = <IP of machine running VLC> (e.g. 192.168.1.100)
directory/share = <share name on your pc>
local dir = /mnt/nfs
mount on startup = yes
mount options = rw,soft,udp
mount options = leave as default setting
username = <username of an administrator account on your machine>
password = <password for the above account>
Once the settings have been entered make sure you go to the bottom of the
settings page and press OK over “mount network volume”
N.B. If you want to check that the share is working at this point, go back to
your computer and right click on “My Computer” and select “Manage”. In the
newly opened Computer management window, click on the + sign next to
shared folders, and click on “Shares”. This will show you all the shares you
have on your PC. There should be a 1 next to the share you set for the
dreambox under the “Client Connections” column, if not check your settings
and try to re-mount the share.
Got a feeling VLC has to be running on a PC somewhere.
