DM600 VLC not up to it, what else is there . . ??

Ok, I have got vlcf running on the boxes, but it just isn't up to the task, or the boxes aren't. Are there any other ways of playing movies from the PC to the TV via the dreambox.
I am running XP pro on the pc and store alot of .avi movies on it. I want to be able to select and watch them at the tv via an STB. If it is possible for the dreamboxes great, otherwise I am thinking of buying an xbox360 and using it as a media centre.

Opinions, advice and ideas please . . . .

Is there a neutrino image available for the DM600? Neutrino seems to have flawless recording whereas enigma has loads of errors, maybe it will be better for streaming.

I've read reports that VLC v0.9 is too intense and that v0.8.x is better for what we want to use it for on the dreambox.

PLi images use a new way of streaming/recording called zapstream, not sure if this is included in all images. There are also various tools available for streaming, etc. that might be useful.

I've never had truely 100% success with streaming from the PC to the Dreambox.

No matter what I do I always get at least a few glitches. I'm using Enigma and VLC 0.8.4, it's decent enough but not perfect.

Streaming from the Dreambox to the PC is however perfect.

i've found the same as you guys are saying,
i have tried it on Cli and Gemini images, only got it to work on Gemini image. But not good enough.
I can record and stream to and from the dreamboxes perfectly either via the vlcf or just the mounted system.
It's when I try to use vlcf to play the .avi movies, it just seems to be too much for it all.
I will try some other images and things and keep you updated. It's become a bit of mission for me, unfortunately...
