DM500 Returning a Faulty 500C to DVB Monkey - Blown Unit and PSU

    Hi there
Just wondered if anyone has ever returned a faulty 500C to DVB Monkey for a replacement?
I bought one approx 2 months ago and has been working fine It looks like the cheap shaver adaptor they supply in the box has caused the power supply AND the 500C to blow
I now need to return the box and power supply for an exchange and was wondering if anyone had similar problems and how well did DVB Monkey handle it?
Also how much did it cost to return, as this one came from DVB Monkey who are based in China I think?

    Many thanks

Why don't you ask DVB Monkey?

Returning a Faulty 500C to DVB Monkey - Blown Unit and PSU

I've just raised a ticket on their website, I was just wondering anyone else has encountered the same problem and wondered if it was resolved quickly and amicably.
I was especially interested to find out how much it will cost to post back to China, or if BuyThings would handle the problem as they are UK based and aparantley work in partnership with DVB Monkey

      any advice gratefully recieved
      thanks

You will be liable for any postage, you can check on the royal mail or post office website for prices.

DVB Monkey are not renouned for speedy turnarounds, expect to wait weeks.

I have bought a few dm500c's recently from DVB Monkey and roughly 1/3 have had faulty power supplies. You can get a replacement power supply from ASDA for ?5, which works a treat. I have never actually had one blow the box, and would be surprised if the box actually needs replacing?

From my experiance DVB Monkey take an eternity to send out or process anything, so I would try to avoid returning to China and maybe email the UK seller if you have to.

          Good luck,

          Rob

I had a problem and sent back the PCB only and he sent a replacement board. A lot cheaper to post also !!!!

theres a soldered fuse in the psu, its usualy that, a swine to get the psu apart but can be done. I had the same prob, dvb sent another psu but dont know what your gona do about your box as like devilfish says,,, expect to wait ages, if ever!. I personaly would be worried sending a box back for an exchange. luck of the draw i suppose, the clones are usualy ok although they will be cheaply made.

The PSU that came with my clone DM500 blew, so I ordered another Dreambox PSU (clone) which also blew after several weeks.

I'm currently using an old PSU from a Linksys router (which is a 12v 1.0A psu, with the same connector), and it has been working reliably ever since.

Somthing to bear in mind also is the fact that if you return a dreambox receiver complete or just the unit, to china. It is strictly illegal for china to import sat/cable recievers. So, if it gets stopped at customs which is very lilkely they will confescate it and your left with nothing.

Any faulty items I have had to return I always remove the motherboard/pcb and return that only labeling the package as "faulty pcb"
                    Setup: 2x Dreambox 800HD | 3x Dm500S on Motorised dish Setup

Firstly you will need to contact DVBMonkey via the support system and advise that you have a issue with some equipment, they may ignore you like they have done me for the past 5 weeks or you may get lucky and be asked to return the faulty PSU to BuyingThings.co.uk in Preston.
Now i returned 3 PSU's all faulty and never had one back, I have given up dealing with them and am awaiting a refund from Nochex in respect of a few receivers that have also been returned and never seen again.
DVBMonkey are the Bermuda Triangle of the cable world.. be warned.

When you say you cannot get flash erase to pop up, can you ping the the box successfully and it says the box is alive and talking to us ? can you flash without erasing ?
I had a issue where i could not communicate with the box at all no ping just recognised the box as DM500.
After trying absolutely everything i had to return the unit to DVBMonkey via BuyingThings.co.uk
