    Dreambox Audio too quiet.

    I've always had this problem with all my Dreambox's.

    For some reason the audio output is much quieter than my Dbox2 and all other connected devices.

    I'm using standard stereo, nothing fancy.

    Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to increase the audio output, perhaps a config file somewhere?

    Before anyone asks, YES the volume is turned up full on the remote.

        You Know, I have exactly the same problem and, yes, I too checked that the volume was turned up on the remote. It will be interesting to see if there is a simple answer to this.
        The normal tv channels are fine but it has to be turned up for the dream box.

            Thinking about it i dont think there is a problem with the dreambox as have you noticed that the adverts are a lot louder than the programmes?

              Adverts are always louder anyway mate.

              It's the way they are broadcast, to get your attention.

                    ~~~~ knows mate, but it happens every day.
                    Adverts are always that little bit louder than TV shows.
                      its definitely a dreambox issue,
                      if i watch say sky news thru my tv and also put sky news on the box, i press the av button on my tv remote and there is a dramatic drop in the sound even though i'm watchin the same channel...
                      cant see how it can be fixed, interesting topic though
                          there must be a gain function in the config....
                          loudness....oasis albums are the same!....they did a clever trick of recording the first cd `Def maybe` alot louder...this was so in pubs it would be louder than the rest of the tracks on the pub jukebox
                          ....this got the tracks `attention`.....adverts do the same....
                            Found this explanation on Google mate...
                            Why the ads seem louder
                            Commercials really aren't louder than programs. Because of limits imposed on TV signals, an ad can't be louder than the loudest part of the show with it. But going from, for example, a drama with hushed dialogue to a shouted commercial pitch introduces what is called "perceived loudness."
                            And perception can reflect manipulated reality.
                            "A TV program has a mix of audio levels," Eshoo said. "There are loud and soft parts. Nuance is used to build the dramatic effect. Most advertisers don't want nuance. They want to grab our attention, and to do this, they record every part of it as loud as possible."
                            That involves audio compression, which shrinks the range of sound in a commercial. Used frequently in radio, compression tends to boost softer sounds to the level of louder ones. Measured on a meter, it means that a commercial can have a higher and louder average sound level than a program while not exceeding the show's peak loudness.
                            The difference between the average level of a relatively uncompressed program and a highly "sweetened" commercial is noticeable. Inconsistent loudness is typically more pronounced with local ads and when switching between cable channels, which have a wide disparity of volume levels.
                              dont you think the adult channels are louder too.
