How do I connect dreambox to pc

Set IP On dreambox

Good Evening,

I Have a brand new out of the box dreambox 500, when i plug it into the tv there is NOTHING, I know I have to flash the firmware into the box. but how do I do that with a cross over cable, as I cant set the IP as the box is "EMPTY"

So my Set Up Is as Follows.

Laptop Acer Aspire 5742G Connected to Dreambox 500 Via RJ45 crossover cable.

Is it even Possible to flash the dreambox with a crossover cable. I have researched it, and the answer most times is yes. but its always saying to enter the dreambox IP. But if the box Has no firmware how can it have an IP.

I am Computer literate, very, but i Cant for the life of me get my head around this one.

Should be loads of threads on flashing the dreambox 500 but its has to be the dreambox 500c which is for cable and its normally done with null modem cable and dreamup using an image like Commando or Open Pli.
Try to do it off a desktop pc you will have more luck.
