HI ALL

problem with ftp to dreambox

using patch cable between router to box

pc setting:

Use the following IP address:is ticked
ip address192.168.1.4
mask 255.255.255.0
Use the following dns server address: is ticked
these are blank


dreambox settings:

1p : 192.168.1.8
dhcp enabled
mask: 255.255.255.0
type lan
nameserver: 192.168.1.254
gateway :192.168.1.254
network :enabled
port 80
flash ftp settings:

url:192.168.1.8
username: root
password:dreambox


Do you think these are correct settings.?
gateway address of router found via ipconfig (default gateway)

Does not fit with devilfishs adise in his ip tutorial

"If you're not sure what your router ip address is, open your browser and start typing in the following ip addresses one by one. The one that brings up a username and password box is the routers ip address.

192.168.0.1
192.168.1.1
192.168.2.1 "
Eircom is my service provider
when i put these in my browser no connection.


192.168.1.254 brings me to eircoms netopia router.
any ideas

Great news- all working

PC setting:
changed to the following

ENTERED DEFAULT GATEWAY ADDRESS :192.168.1.254
WHICH I PREVIOUSLY LEFT BLANK.

Use the following dns server address: is ticked
these are blank


Dreambox settings:

1p : 192.168.1.8
DHCP: DISABLED- PREVIOSLY ENABLED
mask: 255.255.255.0
type: lan
nameserver: 0.0.0.0-CHANGED TO ZERO
gateway :192.168.1.254
network :enabled
port 80
flash ftp settings:

url:192.168.1.8
username: root
password:dreambox


BROUGHT UP ALL THE BOX FILES IN FLASH FPT
