Hi. I have a Sony DVD Recorder which supports the Guide Plus + system. The website lists the DM500C as a supported receiver. During the setup procedure the Dreambox is not listed. The DBox is listed and I managed to get it (eventually) to download the channel guide although the channel numbers were out of synch with those on the DBOX. I have followed the guide advice on the website which gives instructions on dealing with external receivers not listed. It advises that "none" should be selected from the list and that the host channel (Eurosport) should be tuned on the Dreambox. It should then be left overnight. The next day the Guide Plus+ setup should be continued. The Dreambox should now appear in the list. I have been trying for the past three days to follow the instructions but so far with no success. I would be most grateful for any advice from anyone on the forum who may have used the Guide Plus + system with the DM500C. Cheers.

The Answer!!
Hi mcassidy,
I was trying the same thing yesterday evening and it took me a while to figure it out myself (you won't find any information on the internet, until now
).
Here's a little tutorial. (I'm using a German DVD/HDD recorder from sony so I don't know if the setup items have the same name in another language but the system is the same on all machines, just look around if you don't find it at first).
Connect your Dream via Scart to the recorder and probably via Audio/Video cable to TV. Also connect the coaxial out from your dream to the coaxial in of your recorder (otherwise your recorder wont get the EPG data!)
Connect the glink cabel to your recorder and put it on top of the Dream so the diode is facing the LED (I put it under the Dream so it can't slip away).
On your recorder open the EPG and navigate to "setup" and press "ok" where it says "Receiver1 - none". Choose Line1. Navigate through "satelite receiver/other" and find "DREAMBOX". Press OK (since the dream originally was a satelite receiver!). The recorder tries to switch the channel on your dream through glink. After the glink succesfully changed the channel on your Dream (just answer "yes", it doesn't matter if the glink hits the correct channel).
Go to the "channels" tab in your EPG on the recorder. Here you can asign channel sources. On the left you'll see your recorders channellist (it should equal the list on the right). Now navigate to the right colum of the first entry an press the red button. The source will change to "Line 1". For channel type in the corresponding channel on your dream.
E.G.: Fox is on channel 1 on your recorder and channel 120 on your dream. Set the second colum for channel one to "Line1 120". Do this for all the other channels too.
(Disadvantage here: you can't access channels on your dream higher than 999)
Now everytime you set a timer in your recorders EPG it will switch the channel on your dream through glink and records the output through scart. You musn't change the channel on your Dreambox while recording. You wont be happy with your recording
I think this is the first "Guide Plus+ / Dreambox" Tutorial on the net

Guide Plus with DM500C
Hi Ertezeh.
Thanks for your reply. I am only reading it now as a result of trying to search for something else!! I have more or less been down the same path as yourself in my efforts to get the DM500C to work with the Guide Plus + system on a Sony RDR-HXD870 DVD recorder. Initially I tried the Cable settings to get the Dreambox to download the GuidePlus EPG. The box does not appear in the Cable list. However I could never get the channel to change using the G-Link. I selected "none" in the hope that it would appear on the list if the recorder was left in standby overnight. I set the "host" channel to British Eurosport as information on the GuidePlus website. Like yourself I tried the Satellite settings where the Dreambox is supported. I did get the channel to change using the G-link and the Guidelplus EPG was eventually downloaded. The system had used ITV Terrestial as the Host Channel. This was in line with the information on the Guideplus website. However as you found all the channels were out of sync with those on the DM500C. I tried adjusting the Line1 Channels on DVD recorder to those listed in the Dreambox. However it took me ages to discover that the DVD channel numbers did not recognise any channel numbers on the Dreambox which contained "0" or "1"!! For example Channel numbers 103, 113, 0r 311 on the DreamBox always returned Channel 3 on the DVD recorder!! I had to create new bouquets on the Dreambox and use "blank" channels to eventually get the two devices synchronised. Nearly All the Sports Channels on the DM500c had a "1" in the Channel number. A new bouquet had to be created whuch would use numbers containing no "0's" or "1's". Eventually I managed to get things in sync. I was just wondering what will happen when the Terrestial signal is eventually swithched off. I presume the GuidePlus will be transmitted on a different channel.
Hopefully this information will be useful to other Forum members.Last edited by mcassidy; 15 March, 2009, 17:27.Comment
