usb to serial there will be no driver for it installed you will have to source a driver, by using the search button above i found this

Found a computer with serial port so connected directly with the serial cable and it's still not picking it up

Turns out my null modem cable wasnt a null modem cable at all! Be careful of that, they look the same!
