can i watch videos on 500c with vlc?

ok so i have edit the .xml file to my pc ip address and dvd etc....and it first didnt work ..so i desabled my firewall (vista) and i managed to get the VLC on my dreambox to apear with out crashing.
however now the problem is that the files dont appear on the dreambox menue. the files are prob avi or divx (AXXO) download to be exact.
so should they appear or not?
is the any other settings to do?

    thnx

Are you trying to steam video from a shared folder on a PC or NAS? Its not so clear what you are trying to do here... well to me its not...

You need to edit /var/tuxbox/config/vlcf.xml on the dreambox in order for the VLC on the dreambox to know where to go for files.
You need to ruin this command on the server

        vlc -d -I http --sout="#transcode{vcodec=mp2v,vb=1024,scale=1,acode c=mpga,ab=192,channels=2}:duplicate{dst=std{access =http,mux=ts,dst=:9090}}"

to run the server side of VLC

That's just the way I do it, your setup may be different and need soemthing different.
