Well seems I am in trouble already .

I put the DK image on my Dreambox and now it is stuck in a loop

Any ideas?

I do not have a null cable either, I am using ethernet.

Try reflashing it with dreamup.

more info...stuck in a loop? do u know your ip? can you ftp to the box?

im presuming its stuck on start up/shut down/startup etc. u wil have to flash wit dreamup & null modem cable if it dont work use the flash erase and then reflash its the only way

Well I managed to erase the flash using telnet.

But new problem now, I can't even FTP/Telnet to the box, and it just shows a black screen.

Would a null cable sort it?

I used the following command:

cd /tmp && eraseall /dev/mtd/3 && cp dw.img /dev/mtd/3 && reboot

But after the erase I lost connection again and therefore it could not write the new flash.

I reckon so, the null modem cable is your get out of jail free card, time to get one mate..

Just need to get the serial connection for my PC now .

that's a PITA i had to track down a friends old PC just to get started with the box because of that damn serial port not being used anymore.

Well I got a pci serial connection and a null cable.

Cannot connect to the dreambox using DreamUp, any ideas?

Edit:

Somehow got it connected using the cable, uploading a different image, just have to figure out how to get keys etc .
