    Dreambox 500C

Hi I'm new to cable talk - so bare with me.
I have lost some channels on my dreambox 500c and am looking for the simplest way to retrieve them - Is there a manual scan procedure available through the remote?

you can do a manual scan but you will need to know the frequencies, best thing to do is a brute force full scan, that should pick everything back up

      Brute force scan

How do I carry out a brute force scan?
If you recommend it I will give it a try.

        menu
        setup
service searching or satellites and transponders
        automatic transponder scan
        bruteforce

or if you know your provider its either 6952 or 6887

sometimes a normall scan misses channels out , so some peeps prefer a bruteforce scan as this might pick up missing channels

          Automatic scan

I tried an automatic scan (did not view any 'bruteforce' option) - it completed the scan but did not find any (favourite) lost channels, it appeared to just update the current service's.
Some of the 'lost' channels were retained in name, while others had been re-named by an abstract term.
I tried deleting these and re-scanning - made no difference.
          Any ideas would be welcomed

              Missing channels

The channels I miss are the Setanta group, certain other missing channels do not bother me.

Ive had a problem with not having my local area or the brute force option on the list of services for the automatic scan. all you have to do is download the cables.xml file from the download section here, ftp it over to your box select brute force and you will find your channels

                    I have a similar problem.

I have loaded a new firmware load onto the Dreambox. (Gemini 4.6)

With my previous Gemini install, I replaced the cable.xml file and got a list of frequencies to scan. However with 4.6 I only get general frequency scan options and they have not picked up a single transponder yet....

I have tried rebooting, adding cams, keys, roms but nothing seems to be working for me,

Could anyone give me advice or point me in the right direction?

I picked up the transponders when I changed to the correct symbol rate.
