How to JTAG a DM500

yes i get tht message then i connect my box and then dream up loads this flashloader and hangs at upload completed waiting,.........

i do get the message ''''''Connection Prepared now switch on Dreambox''''

Are you selecting an image to flash when you get upload completed waiting ???
Are you gettiing the messages below in dreamup, try and give me better and more infiormation.

''Connect the power and the bootloader should be copied to the box
The message should now say 'Box attached and Ready'
Click Flash on the right hand side and select the image to be flashed'' ????

1, i connect the cable
2, i click the connect button on the dreamup
3, the dream up says connection prepared connect the box
4, then i power up my box
5, then the dream up sasy uploading flash loader,
6, the status bar show its done at the bottom of tht status bar it says " upload completed waiting for acknowledge"
7, Dreamup should say box attached and ready and the flash button will also be ready to use but this never happens it gets stuck at step 6
the dream up gets stuk just befor the message "box attached and ready" i cant click on the button where it says flash the dream up does not go to tht point

Thanks for the detailed info, I see where it gets stuck now, looks like your box could be ready for replacement, all I can suggest is that you Jtag the bootloader in again (make sure its the right bootloader,alps/philips) then try Dreamup again and try other null modem cable.
You are obviously doing it correctly so the DM may be faulty.
Finally you could try another PC in case its a processor speed related problem.
So to summarise, Re Jtag, Try different Dreamups, Different Null Cables, different PC with 9 pin com port.

Thanks for your help thats what iv been thinking too time to replace the box iv orderd one its on its way but im still not gone give up on the iv been reading and reading fourms some people and the same error and they managed to get it wroking i think i need to spend more time on it.

Ok, thats the spirit, don't give up yet, you'll have more time when you get your other one up and running. Do you have m8's or relation's with a PC's to take your box around to & try it on theirs ?

dream-up after jtag

I manage to jtag dm5ooc with philips boot file everything when well.I shorted the two pins because dream-up will not recognize dm 500 with the front panel connect.in the process of loading image it stops with this error message(error up-load aborted).when trying to reconnect dream-up it will connect sometimes any help appreciated

Looks like you have null cable connection probs, try other cable and another PC and put the front panel on, it should connect, ie no shorts.

You will need to enter a couple of constructive posts first to be able to access the Downloads section, (give & take a little).

I also tried servial ways read all sorts of forums ect..I got mine right
Just remember this if the green light is on it is not nessesary to Jtag your box.
just get a null modem rs323 cable and a dreamup program.
connect rs323 cable but dont insert the DM power cord jet.
open Dreamup and click on connect now insert power cord.
there is forums how to make a null modem cable.

I have 2 box's which will not connect via dreamup with green light ON.
What is the fix for that, when i power box it states dm500 and 'detect hardware break condition' and then just sits there. Other box's work fine

Try another null modem cable, another version of Dreamup and another PC if same Jtag a new bootloader in then try Dreamup and null cable again.
