Locked 500c - unable to connect via FlashFXP or Dreamup

hi, dont know if you are using a real serial port or the usb adaptor which do cause a lott of probs. if you are using the usb to serial have a look here.

hi, i am using the usb to serial but i have test with a brand new dream clone box and it works just fine. in fact i was able to use the dreamup on the new clone box to load up various images and trying them to scan on the autotransponder but just nothing turns up. that why im resorting to hoping if some kind soul here would be able to guide me on how to break my first box which was bought from some guy who probably locked it up and hope that i would always return to him for support and charge me an arm and leg for it.

Just a thought but have you tried to flash by browser?

hi shadow,im not sure what you meant by flash by browser? i gather you meant if i can connect to the system via ftp and upload the image to get it in? i cant even get into the box given that the ftp is locked out. probably password has changed from default and even the serial port doesnt seem to recognise any connection. i can connect the serial and start dreamup and once connected i can see the first liner connection that shows that its connecting to a dm500 but it doesnt flash in the loader to connect to the box. so i believe even the serial portion has been locked out. any other ideas?

are you trying to get into the box & see how it is setup?

Or do you just want to flash a new image?

did that cable.xml work?

what image is on the box now? i found that when i couldn't connect to my box to ftp the fix it was because the ip address was in the wrong range (using the digital kaos image) i then did a factory reset from the remote which changed the ip address and everything worked fine...........

Using adapters can be a bit hit and miss sometimes i'd recommend getting a proper null modem cable and having a go with that even tho you've stated that the adapter works with another box.

failing that have you tried TELNETTing the image to the box?
