Flashed DK 1.1 and now my 500c keeps restarting :(

    Hey all,
    Firstly, thanks for reading this.
I'm not sure what just happened to my 500C, maybe a bad flash?
I just copied the DK 1.1 image into the /tmp folder, renamed it and then flashed it manually from the box's own front end.
Everything went well.... It restarted and the DK logo appeared on the TV.
Great I thought... but then after about 3 seconds there was a kind of sqeal from the TV and the box restarted.
Thats all it does now. I suppose it buggered unless I can use a serial cable and dreamup.

I suppose the box itself is a clone, I bought it new online only recently.
Has anyone seen this happen before?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    The (unhappy) Hippy

Sounds like a bad flash. You may be lucky mate try and reflash using telnet method http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...ia-telnet-760/

Failing this your correct the chances are you will have to recover using dreamup.

      Thanks Bugaloo,
Do you know of any reason why it would go bad, everything seemed to go flawlessly?
The box doesn't stay up for long enough to telnet into it.
In fact it doesn't even pick up an IP from the router.
Guess I'll have to go find my null modem cable, I know I have one somewhere.

Hippy no idea mate. I have had similar problems to what you are experiencing when it seemed to have went smoothly. A reflash should sort it.

Thanks guys. At least it's not completely dead. Would you recommend a reflash with DK 1.1 or maybe something else?
I don't know one from the other at the moment.

            Thanks again

I personally like DK image but there are quite a few to choose from. Mr Dudes modded image (think available in downloads) is also very good.

Thanks, I'll give it a go rather than using the same one again.

Hippy once you get the box up and runing (even inputting keys manually) you should then fix the box so that it auto updates. better in the long run.

                        Hey Bugaloo mate.
Any chance of a pointer in the right direction for auto update?

                        Thanks,

                            Thanks once again Bugaloo
Seems to be working fine. Will the keys auto update?
Read all sorts about manual key entry etc.
Also not sure I have all the channels. Is there a channel list somewhere so I can check?
