DM500 [Technical] Recorded Transport Stream Errors

Hello,

This isn't really a dreambox issue, but someone might be able to help anyway.

I have my new 500-c from dvbseller.com setup nicely with the DK v1.1 image, however there's a large issue when it comes to recording.

The transport stream seems to save to my PC ok enough, however whenever I try to convert it using various methods, the end product comes out full of glitches.
I have tried to edit with VideoReDo and Remux to MPEG-PS. The same occurs when I tried using PVAStrumento to convert directly to MPEG-PS, even after turning off all of it's "fixing" features.

Any advice anybody could give would be really appreciated.

what happens if you play the stream recorded on the pc...does it play back smooth?

if it has been recorded this way then it will encode the same....make sure the footage is not damaged.

conversion....i think there is a freeware tool called `super`...try that as it can handle some obscure codecs...

if you are testing then only use 30 seconds of footage to do so....once the 30sec clip is properly converted then use the settings for your longer footage....this will save you alot of `rendering` time whilst you find the correct settings to convert.

Thus you see my problem. It's recorded to my PC damaged. I tried SUPER, but no amount of software is undamaging it. It even plays back glitchy when I play it back on the Dreambox.

You may have a weak signal in your area,maybe some kind of signal booster would help improve your original recording.

I can watch it fine on my TV though, which is the annoying thing. Where would I get a signal booster from?

hmmmm tricky one this what image are you using on your dreambox? do you use a crossover or a router? it sounds like the data is being corrupted as it is recorded perhaps the hdd you are using is too slow to encode the video on the fly? just a thought

DK1.1. Router. Doubtful that the HD can't handle it. It handles gigabit network traffic OK.

I can watch TV fine. I can watch TV on PC and record it fine with GBPVR.
If I try to record *from* the Dreambox to the same hard disk on the network (using CIFS), I get load of errors. I've tried various mounting options (ie UDP, TCP).

It's obviously possible for this to work, but I assume GBPVR has a better buffering scheme. I'd prefer to set the recordings on the Dreambox though.

Are there any tricks for improving this?

Could you share exactly how you got it working with GBPVR? I'll take anything for clean recordings.

Have a look at xilisoft hd converter.It can play and convert .ts to just about any format you can think of.Hope this helps.
